Hierarchical support?

Hi Millan,

Just wondering when hierarchical support is being planned and if the feature is going to be included in the Lite version.

Also when on a custom taxonomy management page under the "Posts" menu, the custom taxonomy header displays "Tags" instead of the actual taxonomy name. I know this is minor and you're probably aware of it, but thought I'd mention it anyway!

You're a busy guy! I don't know how you do it! But keep up the great work!

Re: Hierarchical support?

Hierarchical custom taxonomies are not supported by WordPress right now, and also will not be supported in WP 2.9. Maybe for WP 3.0.

Re: Hierarchical support?

Question for you, Millan.

This is not really related to the plugin; this is more of a general custom taxonomy question.

If I create a taxonomy now with hierarchical set to false, would it be possible to upgrade that taxonomy to hierarchical = true in WP 2.9/3.0 without affecting the created, custom taxonomy?

I'm not sure how that is going to work, but you have more knowledge than me on how WP works!

Re: Hierarchical support?

I don't know. Theoretically it should work. Data for all taxonomies is in the same tables, uses same format, and hierarchy is implemented using code. Right now WP can transform tags into categories and vice versa. So, no reason the same code shouldn't work for custom taxonomies. I will closely follow whatever they do with that, I really love custom taxonomies, and I use them now in many of my projects. My TVScape.NET is built around them, and has, I think, 7 taxonomies in use.
